Last December 12, Tropical Storm "NONA" with International Name "MELOR" entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). Within a day, the tropical storm had intensified into a typhoon, making landfall in Batag Island, Laoang, Northern Samar; Bulusan, Sorsogon; Burias Island, Masbate; Banton Island, Romblon; and Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro.
Typhoon Nona caused devastation to both infrastructure and agriculture and MicroSourcing responded with Caritas Manila, our long-standing non-profit organization partner with social and community development programs in the Philippines. As a company, we uphold human dignity and found it important to provide immediate relief to families that were affected by the typhoon.
MicroSourcing's donation of P40,000 to Caritas Manila aided the distribution of food packs, trapal for temporary shelter, and solar lamps to 100 families in Catarman, Samar. The Philippines is prone to natural disasters and we are committed to building resilient communities that are able to withstand calamity.
"Thank you MicroSourcing for answering the call to help our brothers and sisters in their time of need." - Kiel Fernandez (Head, Financial Stewardship Department)
