MicroSourcing Back to School Campaign

MicroSourcing Donates School Supplies to Magellan Learning Center

Since launching our annual Back-to-School campaign in May, the generosity of MicroSourcing employees has spread across our different non-profit organization partners - even reaching as far south as Cebu!

Last July 3, Virlanie Foundation, an NGO working with street children in the Philippines, received a generous stock of school supplies for the Magellan Learning Center, a remedial space that gives much needed tutorials and supplementary classes to children to help them overcome their learning difficulties.

Children attending tutorials at the Magellan Learning Center are from the Residential Program that brings street children into the Virlanie Homes where they receive care and supervision from house parents, attend school, and participate in extra-curricular activities. The goal is to develop them into active and responsible members of society. Hence, the Magellan Learning Center brings much hope to those children who are transitioning to normal life in the Virlanie Homes.

It is run by highly skilled teachers with years of experience in the Filipino educational system, and the children receive tutorials in subjects like Mathematics, English, Physics, and Computers. Teachers aspire to boost confidence while also reinforcing the importance of schooling to the children. To date, 186 children have benefited from tutorials run at the Magellan Learning Center.

The school supplies were gladly received by Emily Malibago, Coordinator of the Magellan Learning Center, and a group of beneficiaries of the program. They are all truly grateful to MicroSourcing employees for their donations.
