BPO Employees Urged to Consider High Value Processes

by: Sarah Joson

Monday, December 2, 2013 | Outsourcing News |

At the Asia CEO Forum, SAP Asia Pacific Human Capital Management Solution Vice-president Raj Sundarason said the business process outsourcing (BPO) workforce of the Philippines should consider training for "higher-value chain" processes.

Sundarason added that now is the time for the Philippine market to move up the value chain, because if the outsourcing market suddenly changes, the country will have a difficult time adjusting. The executive also noted the large supply of skilled medical professionals in the country, and that the local BPO industry should utilize it for diversity and growth of the healthcare information management segment, which is right up in the alley of the higher value chain.

On the other hand, Sundarason said the country has to produce more human resources experts to support the transition and growth of the local BPO sector. A solution, he said, would be for the academe to reinforce and match the requirements needed in the industry.
