According to business processing outsourcing (BPO) firm Transcom Philippines, the Philippines is now the "Call Center Capital of the World". Siva Subramaniam, Country Manager at Transcom, said the Philippines has already outdone India as the leading call center hub of the world.
The Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India noted in a statement that the Philippines has a healthy supply of call center agents. In fact, the organization as well as IT-Business Process Association of the Philippines’ (IBPAP) External Affairs Executive Director Genny Marcial said Filipinos qualify as very good BPO investments for their excellent communication skills and command of the English language in general.
Moreover, Subramaniam said the training facilities, additional efforts to improve infrastructure, and strong government support make the Philippines a favourable destination. Marcial, on the other hand, noted that in the Philippines, voice services make up a major part of its BPO sector, but India is still the top provider for technical support since labor is less expensive there.
For 2012, the BPO sector was found to be the top producer of jobs in the country, employing 777,000 new workers.
