According to an executive at the Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA), the Philippines is set to partner with the software development sector of Australia and be the bridge to the global market, particularly China’s. After receiving news that Australian IT companies are looking to hire local talents, Nora Terrado, President of PSIA, said this is an opportunity for the country to progress.
Martin Conboy, President of the Australian Business Process Outsourcing Association (ABPOA) and publisher of The Sauce BPO, said this is a good opportunity for the Philippines. He added that China's Five Year Development Plan requires 10 million call center agents. This means Australia would need the help of the Philippines to tap that market.
Australia’s skilled workforce is thinning and candidates are difficult to find. For Australian companies to tap international markets like China, they would need help from other regions to improve talent supply and streamline internal processes.
Other important topics highlighted by Conboy during his presentation in Manila are tips for tapping the Australian market, upcoming movements in “outsourcing verticalization”, social media, processes that are most likely to be outsourced in the coming years, and what the sector has in store for software companies.
