Government Urged to Give Additional Incentives to BPO SMEs

by: Karen Cayamanda

Friday, October 1, 2010 | Outsourcing News |

In the SME panel discussion at the Contact Center Association of the Philippines, small and medium-sized call center companies urged the government to give them more incentives to enable them to compete with large companies.

According to Pacific Hub Chief Executive Officer Beaver Lopez Jr., incentives for SMEs must be different from those given to large companies to help the former in dealing with challenges. These include rising costs of doing business in the country, insufficient government incentives, talent recruitment, and high attrition rate.

Small companies employ up to 1000 workers, while medium-sized firms have 1000 to 5000 employees.

Meanwhile, TrecPacific Corp. president Edith Reilly said aside from giving additional incentives, the government must also improve the quality of education in the country.
