With more room for business process outsourcing and a large pool of skilled workers, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) companies recognized Cagayan de Oro (CDO) as the most competitive city in Mindanao for outsourcing work.
Elpidio Paras, Chairman of the CDO ICT Business Council, told industry leaders and ICT students in the recently concluded Convergence 2009 ICT Roadshow at Pryce Plaza Hotel that Cagayan de Oro has several potential outsourcing sites including the Phividec [Philippine Veterans Investment Development Corp.], the new Lim Ket Kai Gateway Tower, and the SM City-CdO IT Building.
The low power cost in the city is also another plus for ICT companies. Paras said there is enough power supply from sustainable resources. “Utility rates here are lower by at least 30% compared with Manila’s rates, management costs are also low, and salaries are low- to mid-level. Cagayan de Oro is also typhoon-free,” he added.
