Davao Eyed as Potential Hub by Major BPO Locators

by: Karen Cayamanda

Friday, July 9, 2010 | Outsourcing News |

Davao City ICT President Bert Barriga revealed that Davao is being considered by two of the biggest BPO locators (names were not disclosed) for their business. Should these BPO companies decide to start business operations in the province, they will recruit 20,000 full-time workers.

Aside from this, Barriga said Concentrix and Sutherland, two major BPO firms in Davao, are expected to increase their workforce. "We are now at the 7,000 level and we are expecting to hit the 10,000 mark of BPO workforce this year."

Davao was ranked number 1 in the list of Next Wave Cities for 2010, followed by Sta. Rosa, Bacolod City, Iloilo City, Metro Cavite, Lipa City, Cagayan de Oro City, Malolos City, Baguio City, and Dumaguete City. The list recognizes cities (outside Metro Manila) which have qualities that are suitable for IT-BPO operations.
