Each year, MicroMissions invites MicroSourcing employees to participate in the annual Playing Santa appeal that opens our hearts to the spirit of giving by fulfilling the Christmas wishes of public school scholars from impoverished communities. Since the initiative started, we have seen 576 Christmas wishes granted to scholars in Manila and Cebu. This year, we granted 341 wishes to scholars from Payatas Orione Foundation, A Better Chance Foundation, and SOS Children's Village Cebu.
This month, MicroSourcing volunteers wrapped up the year by celebrating Christmas with 273 public school scholars from Payatas Orione Foundation. The non-profit organization is our long-standing partner in education with over 300 scholars. Through Payatas Orione Foundation's education program, financially challenged elementary, high school, and college students have the opportunity to study at public institutions that would otherwise be out of their reach.
Our gift giving ceremony in Payatas was truly a memorable experience. "It is amazing to realize that you do not retain your godsends for yourselves but have become a channel of blessings for others. You are such a blessing to me!" - Payatas Orione Foundation scholar
MicroSourcing volunteers joyfully participated in the activities, all of which the scholars enjoyed. One of the favorites for the morning was Balloon Stomp. Prizes were on offer and the scholars were competitive with the mothers cheering for their children. Everyone was literally on their toes waiting to see who the winner would be.
Angelito Castro from MicroCreatives invited Mo-C, a Yoyo performer, to showcase his talent to the Payatas Orione Foundation scholars. It was obvious from their smiles that they had appreciated the performance. Usually, MicroMissions invites Ernest the Magician to perform some outstanding magic tricks and so the Yoyo performer was definitely a pleasant surprise.
MicroMissions is thankful to all the MicroSourcing Santas and volunteers who helped us spread good cheer in needy communities this Christmas season. We are also grateful to the volunteer POCs who helped facilitate Playing Santa in the MicroSourcing Manila sites: Karen Cayamanda, Joannah Kris Aguas, Celso Trinidad Jr., and Jackelyn Banzon. Other key volunteers who were instrumental in ensuring that the Saturday program went smoothly are Jan Cyrill Dimaranan who volunteered to be our host for the gift giving ceremony, and Finella Panlilio, the photographer.
On behalf of Payatas Orione Foundation, A Better Chance Foundation, and SOS Children's Village Cebu, we send a heartfelt thank you to everyone for the unending love and support.
"Struggles flood me, daily challenges test my faith, frustrations hinder my determination, failures hold back my passion, but all this discouragement continues to strengthen my resilience. You continue to motivate me and I am confident I can do all things to the best of my ability." - Payatas Orione Foundation scholar
It is messages like this which tells us that we should keep going and MicroMissions looks forward to a successful year 2016. Merry Christmas and we wish you all a prosperous New Year!
