The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has recently partnered with Asia House, a non-profit, non-political organization based in the United Kingdom (UK), to promote the Philippines as an investment destination for British firms. Asia House is striving to familiarize the UK with Asia by creating various business-themed events which covers policies, arts, and learning.
In an interview, Trade Undersecretary Ponciano Manalo Jr. said a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was inked with Asia House during the recent UK visit of DTI officials. He added that the MOU is a trade and investment collaboration throughout the next three years, and is renewable.
The MOU states that the Asia House and the Philippines will exemplify best practices and team up to promote the Philippines to British firms. The partnership is also set to organize business missions.
Based on the MOU, the first business mission will be arriving in the Philippines in November, while a business mission for the UK is being organized and is scheduled for next year.
The partnership with Asia House backs the DTI’s efforts in making the country an appealing choice for UK companies that want to start and expand their operations.
Several sectors are being promoted by the DTI - Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects, infrastructure, financial and insurance services, and information technology-business process management.
