June 14 marked World Blood Donor Day! The theme this year is Give freely, give often. Blood donation matters.
To applaud and show appreciation to blood donors across the world, MicroMissions launched One Pint Heroes: A MicroMissions Blood Donation Drive. Doctor Bitagon, Ponce Jogno, Jerome Anca, Flora Sevilla, Aide Amado Ocampo, and Angelito Samson from the Philippine Red Cross visited 1880 Eastwood last June 15 to facilitate the blood donation activity. The Philippine Red Cross is one of the major suppliers of blood in the country and relies heavily on donations from voluntary, non-remunerated members of the public.
MicroMissions is humbled by the MicroSourcing One Pint Heroes from 1880, MDC, and Felina who came together to save lives. Your gift of life will bring access to well-timed, safe blood to patients in need of a transfusion. Each blood donation can help save three lives and we appreciate your kindness. In addition to that, proceeds from the blood donation drive will go to the Blood Samaritan Program. This is an important life line for indigent patients who are in need of a life-saving transfusion but financially incapable of covering the payment of blood processing fees.
If you would like to donate blood, please visit the Philippine Red Cross network of blood service facilities nationwide. Thank you for saving lives!
