Supporting Youth Entrepreneurship with Shakes and Cupcakes

“Thank you very much MicroSourcing. We have learned so much,” one Green Program team member uttered while totaling the day’s sales.

MicroSourcing champions budding entrepreneurs from LP4Y's Green Program

MicroMissions championed budding entrepreneurs from Life Project for Youth’s (LP4Y) Green Program last Thursday, May 7. LP4Y is a non-profit organization, helping young adults aged 17-24 who are victims of exclusion and are living in poor communities become socially and professionally integrated in society.

Jojo Vendiola, Judith Cordero, and Jomarie Delacruz were accompanied by Coach Julien Vidal and treated MicroSourcing employees at Picadilly site to delicious fruit shakes and cupcakes. They form part of the Green Program team that runs Healthy Corner, a profitable microenterprise selling fruit shakes, cupcakes, and homemade jams. It falls under LP4Y’s Professional Training for Entrepreneurs located in Calauan, Laguna. MicroSourcing CEO Philip Kooijman and VP of PR & Marketing Nona Kooijman dropped by to treat their taste buds to tasty fruit shakes and cupcakes.

Client account AH also joined the fun and gave the young entrepreneurs an opportunity to sell their products as part of their Nurses Week celebrations. A special thank you goes to Tina Lirio, Senior Manager of Human Resources for working tirelessly to make this possible. AH was happy with the Healthy Corner and welcomed the team for a second round of shakes and cupcakes!

Feedback from Julien is that Jojo, Judith, and Jomarie were pleased with their sales on Thursday and are keen to make another trip to Picadilly very soon. Mango and avocado shakes were so popular with MicroSourcing employees that the team ran out of fruits so early in the afternoon. We have been assured by the team that on their next visit, they will bring plenty of mangoes and avocados!

MicroMissions applauds the capable entrepreneurs for their effort and we acknowledge that there is no silver bullet for addressing inequality in the Philippines. Though by supporting young people like Jojo, Judith, and Jomarie one shake and cupcake at a time, we are in effect aiding the development of essential entrepreneurial skills and breaking the barriers for future job creators. So next time, buy a shake or a cupcake and help foster the development of young leaders to ultimately create a generation of future catalysts for growth!
