PH Govt., Private Sector Partnership Needed to Sustain BPO Growth

by: Sarah Joson

Friday, October 17, 2014 | Outsourcing News |

During the recent International Information Technology-Business Process Management (IT-BPM) Summit in Makati, President Benigno S. Aquino III said in order for the local business process outsourcing (BPO) industry to grow and sustain a successful streak, the government and the private sector should continue working together.

Aquino said the strength of the industry comes from years of hard work, ingenuity, success, and sacrifices. The Philippines has evolved into a global leader for services exports over the years, and that other countries are starting to acknowledge the Philippines as a formidable player in the BPO space.

However, he said leaders from the government and private sector should look into innovation and perseverance for new opportunities. This would mean a continued partnership in finding new ways to make the most out of the country’s key strength which is the Filipino workforce. As for the government, he said the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is continuing its efforts in designing programs to help people who are looking for employment in the business process management industry.
