"Education...is the great equalizer." - Horace Mann
MicroSourcing employees supported eight high school scholars from A Better Chance Foundation for the school year of 2014-15. The scholars are Grade 7 students of Siena College, Taytay Rizal's night high school program.
A Better Chance Foundation aims to assist financially challenged Filipino children in completing quality high school and college education. It was founded in 1995 by Lewis A. Edwards in honor of his eldest son. The organization now supports close to 800 high school scholars and 180 college scholars across Manila. After 20 years, they have seen students graduate from some of the country's most prestigious universities with Latin honors. Among them is Kristopher de Las Penas, now working as a Computer Science Instructor at the University of the Philippines while on a Master's Degree scholarship awarded by the school. MicroSourcing shares the vision of educating Filipino children with A Better Chance Foundation.
The volunteering club of MicroSourcing is working on organizing a visit to the school and an office tour field trip for the scholars.
The company raised a total of Php161,400 for a Back-to-school campaign in June intended for sneakers and raincoats of 272 Payatas scholars. The group voted to donate an excess fund of Php24,000 to more scholarships with A Better Chance Foundation.
