According to Penny Bongato, Executive Director for Talent Management at the Information Technology and Business Processing Association of the Philippines (IBPAP), information technology (IT) is a cutthroat segment because its current leader, India, possesses a huge number of programmers. But the industry body believes that the Philippines can go beyond the voice segment and take the business process management (BPM) leadership from India.
The Philippines is known as the country to beat in terms of contact center services, and is the second most preferred destination for IT processes - just behind India.
Bongato also pointed out that the healthcare sector is where the Philippines could excel in, especially now that it is emerging as a premiere market.
Health information management has become one of the most sought-after services because of the influx of huge volumes of data from healthcare facilities driven by the rising cost and beneficiary information in developed countries.
This results to the need for automating information for easier collection, retrieval, and storage - making the Philippines a feasible outsourcing destination with its abundant supply of health practitioners.
