The very first social initiative of MicroSourcing Cebu garnered overwhelming support among employees. MicroSourcing launched a school supplies donation drive to support the education of children in SOS Children’s Villages on back-to-school month of June.
In the two weeks of the campaign, a total of 690 school items were donated, including notebooks, pad papers, coloring materials, envelopes, and other items that will improve the children’s learning experience.
Last June 24, an excited group of 25 volunteers led by MicroSourcing’s HR Site Lead Emee Famador visited SOS Cebu in Talamban, Cebu City. They were greeted by program coordinators and 106 friendly children. The kids enjoyed sandwiches and beverages with the volunteers and they got to know their visitors from MicroSourcing through dancing games and fun activities.
Beyond the program, the volunteers had the chance to visit the homes of the children and meet their SOS foster families. SOS Children's Villages provides long-term family-based care and education to orphaned, abandoned, and neglected children.
In each home, they cultivate a relaxed, loving atmosphere where children can enjoy a genuine sense of security and belonging. The volunteers found it enlightening to see the realized mission of SOS Children’s Villages.
MicroSourcing’s Corporate Social Responsibility arm is working with key people in Cebu to make sure social initiatives for employees are organized on a regular basis. These initiatives give employees an avenue to contribute to social causes and they grow more aware of the challenges faced by communities around them. The entire team of MicroSourcing Cebu is looking forward to these developments.
