According to the survey executed by benchmarking and sourcing consultancy ITNewcom, out of 60 executives from top IT clients in Australia, 75 percent are already outsourcing some of their software and 85 percent outsource their IT infrastructure.
Scott Stewart, Research Director at ITNewcom, said the figures are anticipated to increase as 43 percent of the respondents said they will be going to outsource more application processes and 40 percent are planning to outsource more IT infrastructure-related processes.
Meanwhile, Stewart said only 29 percent of firms belonging to the private sector and 22 percent from the public sector will be retaining their current outsourcing setup. He added that the public sector is even considering offshoring. Also, an ITNewcom report noted that 39 percent of public sector agencies are looking into offshoring their application requirements.
