During President Benigno Aquino IIIís speech at the groundbreaking ceremony of a $50-million facility owned by Sutherland Services in Carmona, Cavite, he said the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector will post revenues worth $25 billion and provide 1.3 million direct jobs and 3.2 million indirect jobs at the end of his term in 2016.

Aquino thanked the BPO sector which plays an important role in the countryís economic growth by providing employment opportunities to Filipinos. He added that his administration is improving the talent pool of the country. One of the initiatives is providing an Industry-based Training for Work Scholarship Program for those who want to enter the BPO workforce. The government had allocated half a billion pesos to this program. More than Php200 million have already been disbursed and through the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the program was able to train almost 36,000 Filipinos.
The BPO sector posted $11 billion in revenues last year and was able to provide 640,000 direct jobs.

Sutherland Global currently employs 13,000 to 15,000 workers. The recently inaugurated facility has a capacity of 8,000 seats and is expected to provide 24,000 jobs.
