A survey conducted by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) which covered 811 IT-BPO companies shows that the IT-BPO industry of the country posted a 21.8 percent growth in 2010, with revenues reaching $10.1 billion. In 2009, the industry’s revenues reached $8.3 billion. However, this translates to a slower growth rate for 2010 than 2009’s 30.6%.
Voice-based work remains the key growth driver for the industry as it contributes more than 50 percent of the total revenues. More than half of the industry’s workers were from the call center segment, and the Philippines is now considered as the top outsourcing location of choice when it comes to voice-based processes.
Other disciplines such as transcription, animation, and software development also posted strong growth.
According to BSP, IT-BPO exports posted a 22.7 percent growth in 2010. This can be attributed to the growing demand for BPO work.
