The Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP) recently launched the career portal called “Work Abroad. Live Here” (http://www.workabroadlivehere.com
). This is a new campaign which targets 517,000 fresh graduates, young professionals, and job seekers who may want to enter the business process outsourcing (BPO) workforce. This is in line with their efforts to reach the jobs target of 1.3 million by 2016. It is also a way to showcase various opportunities that the IT-BPO sector has to offer.
According to BPAP President and CEO Benedict Hernandez, applicants do not usually know where to look for job opportunities. The career portal is created to help job seekers find jobs that are suitable for their knowledge and skill set. It also enables candidates to work for global companies without having to leave the country. They no longer have to go overseas to provide for their families.
The website covers various segments of the IT-BPO industry. Hernandez said there are available jobs for animators, game developers, IT professionals, software developers, financial analysts, accountants, and even doctors and nurses. He added that IT-BPO centers in outsourcing hubs outside Metro Manila are also looking for candidates who can fill job positions for voice-based and non-voice processes.
The “Work Abroad. Live Here” website is managed by TeamAsia, a marketing communications company, and was developed by Cloud Sherpas.
