State of the Philippine BPO Indsutry at International Outsourcing Summit
The International Outsourcing Summit 2011 was held last October 11-12 at Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Manila. In this event, leaders, executives, and players of the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry convened to tackle global issues, challenges, and opportunities about and related to IT-BPO.
With the theme “Global Market Leaders Addressing Global Market Issues”, sessions covered topics including the state of the Philippine BPO industry and the need to offer more non-voice and complex services while staying competitive when it comes to providing call center work.
The IT-BPO Roadmap 2011-2016 was also presented in the event by the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP). It was discussed that the country should be the top IT-BPO location of choice, which can be achieved by having a large number of workers who have better education. Government support is likewise necessary, particularly in implementing laws related to data security and welfare of workers. BPAP said they are confident that the industry will meet its accelerated goal of US$25 billion in export revenues by 2016 through a strong partnership between the private sector and the government.
President Benigno Aquino III expressed his gratitude to the summit participants. He had approved the funds for training programs that will help address the challenge of finding the right talent for the BPO industry.
