The Philippines is now the global leader when it comes to business process outsourcing (BPO) and shared services, overtaking India for the first time in these business support functions. This is according to the 2010 Annual Report - Global Location Trends by IBM.
Both India and the Philippines offer similar business environments. However, labor costs in the latter have not increased as much compared to India.
According to the Contact Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP), the country has also become the call center capital of the world, employing 350,000 call center employees. Voice outsourcing accounts for 70 percent of the country’s outsourcing industry.
