A contact center and BPO company offers classes to call center workers to finish their college education while working.
Telus International Philippines, Inc. opened “Telus International University”, a program that offers courses in economics, management, entrepreneurship, IT, and humanities to call center employees while they are working on graveyard shift. Javier Infante, president and chief executive officer, said 40 percent of their employees do not have college degrees.
Telus formed partnerships with five universities for this program. “The company will subsidize the tuition of the beneficiary. The classes will be held in the two centers of Telus located in Cubao in Quezon City and Taguig. The professors of the universities will teach the standard curriculum but during schedules most suited for our employees who are working at night,” Infante said.
He added that the employees will not be required to sign a contract or bond, and will not be forced to stay with the company after the program.
