In a research conducted by online firm PeoplePerHour.com, it was found out that small businesses are more likely to avail services of IT freelancers than hire full-time employees.
Out of 360 SME owners who took part in the research, 61 percent said they plan to invest more in IT and web technology. Thirty-eight percent said they intend to increase investment in utilizing IT freelancers. Only 18 percents intend to recruit full-time staff. Also, 43 percent believe that IT is something for freelancers and “not as supplements to in-house IT professionals”.
“The last decade has seen a boom in remote freelance working, facilitated by the internet. This has been led by the IT industry, which lends itself to freelancing,” said Xenios Thrasyvoulou, chief executive of PeoplePerHour.com.
