In an effort provide job opportunities for India’s disabled youth and make them self-sufficient, the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled recently launched a BPO training program for call center work.
According to Mahantesh G Kivadasannavar, founder and managing trustee of Samarthanam, this initiative will be able to train more than 300 disabled individuals, teaching them skills in technical and non-technical areas including accent training, customer service, call management, and client relations. "We want the disabled to be taxpayers of the country. They will not be a liability but an asset."
The BPO training unit, located at the Peenya Industrial Area, has facilities which are designed to cater to the needs of the trainees. Food and accommodation will be provided free of charge, and training sessions will include audio visual aids and simulation software.
