Slower Growth Seen in Indian IT Industry

by: Karen Cayamanda

Tuesday, June 8, 2010 | Outsourcing News |

Technology and market intelligence firm Forrester Research warned that India’s IT industry will see a slower growth rate in the next few years due to “”disenchantment” with mega deals, as well as lack of strong bounce back effect.

“There is a sense of disenchantment with large-scale IT outsourcing. Companies have realized that whole-scale IT outsourcing leaves you much more exposed. They are likely to go for more granular deals in the future,” said Andrew Bartels, principal analyst at Forrester Research. The industry will see slower growth and there may be no mega outsourcing deals over the next few years.

US IT outsourcing will grow by about six percent. The growth rate of IT consulting and deployment services will reach 6.8 percent, while software will register 11.5 percent growth rate over the next two years.
