Women Working in Public Sector more Satisfied than those in BPO

by: Karen Cayamanda

Monday, March 8, 2010 | Outsourcing News |

Results of the study conducted by the Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) show that women who work in public sector undertakings (PSUs) are more satisfied than those who are engaged in business process outsourcing (BPO) and knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) sectors. This is due to the healthy working environment, good annual income, convenient working hours, and job security being offered by the public sector.

"It is found that women employed in this particular sector feel lack of personal growth and development since they perceive less room in the decision-making process and less flexibility in working hours, besides pressures to perform and deliver targets," said Assocham President Swati Piramal.

Respondents of the said study work in different areas such as banking, power, finance, petroleum, and consultancy across 11 states.
