In a survey conducted by the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP) and Outsource2Philippines (O2P) with BPO executives as respondents, results show that the negative perception of the country is a significant risk factor when it comes to outsourcing business operations to the Philippines.
Fifty-one percent (51%) of respondents viewed negative publicity as either level one, two or three risk factor, with 20% ranking it as level one.
Another factor that poses a threat to the BPO sector is the tight labor market. Forty-nine percent (49%) ranked the increasing insufficiency of knowledge workers as either a top concern, level two or level three risk factor.
Executives still think that the BPO industry will thrive despite these risk factors. In fact, BPAP Chief Executive Oscar Saņez said in a statement that the industry is on its way to reaching 20% growth rate this year.
