Software development is the next big thing in the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry. This is based on a report entitled "The Role of Proprietary Software in BPO" by Samad Masood, IT Services senior analyst for Ovum, a global analyst and consulting company.
According to Masood's report, the role of software development in BPO is further valued as service providers use it for more efficient service delivery and to enable them to use cloud computing technologies.
Masood added that proprietary software development will play a major role in providing BPO services "as it can significantly reduce the cost and/or requirement for significant technology platform transformation when transitioning to a BPO services provider."
