Data Base Administrator
Responsibilities
• Administer, maintain and support the usage, accuracy and security of MySQL, DB2 and other databases
• Write SSRS reports
• Undertake regular testing and auditing of database systems to minimize risks to the business and to continually improve performance
• Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges)
• Database tuning and performance monitoring
• Application tuning, performance monitoring and managing parameters to provide fast query responses to front-end users
• Set-up and maintain documentation and standards
• Ensure that database problems are investigated, diagnosed and resolved
• Develop and implement maintenance procedures
• Establish the needs of users and monitor user access and security
• Map out the conceptual design for a planned database in outline
• Consider both back-end organization of data and front-end accessibility for end-users
• Refine the logical design so that it can be translated into a specific data model
• Refine the physical design to meet systems storage requirements
• Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for data dictionary (metadata)
• Capacity planning
• Work closely with Developers and Systems Analysts
• Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity
Requirements
• Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor"s/College Degree , Computer Science/Information Technology, Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication), Science & Technology or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of solid industry and technology experience
• Strong knowledge in Linux/UNIX System Administration, Apache, Memcached, JBoss, Tomcat, Websphere Administration, MySQL & DB2 Administration/Development, PL/SQL, TOAD
• Fundamental knowledge on Network Troubleshooting, Conifguration and Migration
• Experienced in database design, maintenance, administration, installation, set-up and configuration as well as in performance tuning and monitoring
• Experienced in object-oriented design and UML
• Experienced in database programming with SQL using DB2 v9.1 client server and MySQL v5.0 or above
• Experienced in Websphere Application Server set-up and configuration
• Experienced in WAS migration from v5 to v7
• Must possess strong analytical skills for problem resolution, database and SQL performance tuning and back-ups
• With strong focus on application usability, optimization and normalization
• Ability to work with Business Analysts and users to understand the requirements
• Must possess excellent communication skills for team and customer coordination
• Must be a team player, proactive and can work with a minimum supervision
